WORLD FAMOUS KENNETH SALON ANNOUNCES NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR
New York, NY The world famous Kenneth Salon announced a new Creative Director, Kevin Lee. Mr. Lee will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the salon, including day-to-day operations, management, and creative control.
Kevin Lee began his career in Los Angeles and subsequently moved to New York. “I was the only person hired without an existing clientele, but it was the only salon I wanted to work at. If you are a young hairdresser looking to model yourself after someone in the beauty industry Kenneth is it.”
The Kenneth Salon was founded in 1963 and has always catered to women from film, fashion, and society. Clients have included Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Marilyn Monroe, Gloria Guinness, and Babe Paley among others. The hairstyles of today were in large part introduced by Kenneth; he was the first hairdresser to take women out of hats and make hair the ultimate accessory.
Kenneth Battelle stated, “Although I will continue at the salon, I have supreme confidence in Mr. Lee’s taste, style, and most importantly, talent. Kevin is the perfect person for me to work with moving forward and I could not be more thrilled.”
What sets the salon apart from others is the ease and comfort experienced by the clients. “I want to take everything that Kenneth has created and add to it. I’m not looking to reinvent the salon, rather update it. The luxury factor is so hard to find today… I think we’re a haven for our clients. Sometimes you don’t want to rush through your day. We give women a chance to take a breath,” noted Mr. Lee.
Kenneth was originally located in a townhouse on 54th Street. It closed in 1990 due to a fire which was highly publicized. Two years later, the salon found its current home at the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel at 301 Park Avenue.
